Difference between "App User Connection" and "App Enterprise Connection"

I am using box-java-sdk v2.25.1 and I am trying to upload a file to box account via the OAuth2 + JWT application that i have created, for which I am trying to do this:BoxFolder rootFolder = BoxFolder.getRootFolder(boxClient); FileInputStream stream = new FileInputStream("C:\\files\\pic.svg"); BoxFile.Info newFileInfo = rootFolder.uploadFile(stream, "image.svg"); The difference here is when I am creating the "boxClient" like this I am able to see the file that above code just uploaded under "All Files" section: boxClient = BoxDeveloperEditionAPIConnection.getAppUserConnection(userId, boxConfig, accessTokenCache); But when I am creating the "boxClient" like this I can not see the file that i just uploaded, although the upload went well without any error/exception: boxClient = BoxDeveloperEditionAPIConnection.getAppEnterpriseConnection(enterpriseId, clientId, clientSecret, jwtPreferences, accessTokenCache); So what is the difference between "getAppEnterpriseConnection" and "getAppUserConn

Generate a User Access Token with cURL/PHP

Hey all, Im in need of some help hereIm developing some features for a company intranet, this company uses Box with its employees for file sharing and storage.What its needed - users will have a widget inside the intranet to browse and download and upload files to their Box account (all managed accounts, already created and being used)- since users are already logged in the intranet, they should not have to log in to Box or have to authorize it manuallyReading the docs, I figure what I need to do is to create an app with JWT auth and "Generate user access tokens" set to true, then I can use the generated access token to display a Box Content Explorer and a Box Content Uploader to the user to manage files from his account inside the intranet. Get shared link for publicly hosted box data

Hi, I am attempting to write a python script using the box python sdk to download data from here. While the examples available on the box api documentation page for python allowed me to write a script to download files hosted on my own box account by creating a shared link for it, I am not entirely certain how to create a shared link for the publicly hosted files. Could someone please help me out/point me to the right resources?

What about plan on meaning number of API calls?

I summarized those matter as follows, is the content right? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Number of API calls" posted on the BOX plan points to the API call of "custom application". Therefore, after the end user contracts the Box account, API calls of third party applications that can be selected from "applications" are excluded. In fact, in the activity report, API calls of third party applications are counted, but "Chargeable" is "No". However, if "number of API calls" exceeds the number of 1000 API calls per minute or the number of uploads of 240 files per minute as "BOX fair use policy", "429s error" may be returned.

Uploading file via API has incorrect name parameter

This just started today.When uploading using API, name value loops like an Array of UInt8.  ie. name = "[207, 116, 17, 145, 99, [redacted], 58, 115, 29,[redacted], 143, 0, 247, 162, 114, ..... ].jpg";Can someone from Box shed some light? Thanks.

Webhook v2- created thru SDK, Status = Waiting for activation

From some earlier posts I understand that call to Box Support is required in case we create a v1 Webhook from the portal. But is it also required for v2 webhook created thru the Box SDK. Looks like the webhook was successfully created but the status shows as 'Waiting for Activation'. I am using a free Developer Account., could that be an issue.

Security Classification on a folder

Hello Box Community,When I upload a file, I set the classification using the following code. But I have make an API call for every file which slows down my upload speeds. I was told by box support that I can use Metadata Cascade Policy to apply security classification. Then I had another case open with support, then they told me that the classification is per file basis. Now my question is can this be done at a folder level and recursively apply classification to all the files ? If Yes, anyone can post how ? How to Collaborate JWT Service Account

Hello! Following the advice from this thread that I asked a few weeks ago, I was able to get my app approved for the Box environment; however, we are now undergoing the process for adding the service account as a collaborator to the folders that the JWT service account will need access too. I feel as if I'm missing some information, since I'm not too aware of how to physically add the "service" account once it was authorized. In fact, I'm not really understanding how to find the service account at all. Get a list of folders a user can access

What's the easiest, laziest way to get a list of folders that an arbitrary user can access, without authenticating at that user? It almost looks like I'd have to examine every folder in turn to see if the target user has access to it, but that seems crazy. It especially seems crazy because if I were authenticated as that user, I could just request "all folders", and I would instantly get the list of all folders that that user can access. So I feel like there must be an easier way.  This is coming up because as an admin, I want to see if there's a way to use the API to poll the list of all the folders that a current user has access to, and at what permission level, and then (after a manual review step) apply all those access permissions to another user.

Collaboration Invites Create An Account

I have a java program that runs every morning from my CRM.  It walks a folder tree and updates the security for the folders based on the users role in my CRM.  It's a fluid environment so I am changing users from editors, to owners or the other way around.....  I am trying to find a way to update an existing collaboration object instead of deleting it an recreating it as this sends an email to the user.  I can't seem to figure out how to update an existing collaboration.  Here is my code below...  // Loop through the property's sub-folders for (final BoxFolder propertySubfolder : boxService.getSubFolders( propertyFolder )) { out.format( " %s%n", propertySubfolder.getInfo().getName() ); // Capture a list of all existing collaborators for later... Renaming Box Application Name

Hello all! I've been developing some micro-services that will need to interface directly with the Box API to programmatically add new client folders and documents. Everything is working correctly as intended and I'm excited to begin using the newly authorized Box App in my enterprise; however, I hit a problem with changing the app's name. My team and I had a poll, and the result was to change the name of the application. I made the change in Dev Console and my Box admin reauthorized the app; however, I'm not seeing those changes propagating. If I go to the service account's profile, it still displays the old name, but in the admin console it displays as the correct name. If I programmatically get the user from the sdk: auth = JWTAuth( # Auth here ) auth.authentication_instance() client = Client(auth) print(client.user().get()) # This app has been reauthorized. It displays correctly in the admin and dev console. Are there any additional steps I should follow?

Error while using Primary Access Token instead of Developer Token

Where can i find developer token in box. I am new to Box APIs. Created an account and i can see Client ID, Primary Access Token and Secondary Access Token. I am getting 404 error when i use Primary Access Token to upload file to box. [API]Upload files using API in python

Box CLI and Bulk JSON format

I am trying to create a script which part of it is to create a predetermined folder in users root level.  I have been trying to use the --bulk-file-path= from the CLI v2 but keep getting an error of "Could not parse JSON input file..." for my json input.  The following format is what I am using. {     "entries": [     {          "parentid": ""          "name": "NewFolder"     }     ]} I have also tried with just "id" in place of "parentid".  In general the Box CLI documentation is not very helpful with respect to the required format of these files.  When using the --help option it would be nice if the Arguments were actually the needed json elements to make it easier. Any help is much appreciated. thanksJeff

Where to find file_id for download with box-node-sdk

I know this is a really dumb question but I cannot find a clear answer: what is a file_id? If I get a shared link for one of my files I see this: https://---.box.com/s/w6623rvaz36xucb0jlmukio5zyk6se97 Is w6623rvaz36xucb0jlmukio5zyk6se97 the file_id? Or is it found somewhere else? The file properties does not show a file_id field. Box java sdk - download converted file

 Here is the flow I am trying to achieve. I am using BOX Java SDK in my application to invoke BOX API.A bunch of files get uploaded to a folder (monitored by webhook) Application receives webhook trigger for each FILE (metadata ) If FILE is a non-PDF (RTF, XLS) then convert to PDF Upload the converted file to BOX to a different folder My draft implementation is centered around downloading file to local server on which application is running and then use itext/POI to convert non-PDF to PDF and upload PDF version to BOX.Is there a simpler approach or a solution this ?

What happens to custom apps created by a user when that user's account is removed?

When I make a custom app, it seems to be associated with my user ID, and I am the only collaborator. What happens if my user account is deleted (e.g. I no lnger work at this company)? Does the custom app still remain? Are others able to see the custom app's configuration?

Compatibility of 'Get Embed Link' API with shared links

Hi, Could I use 'Get Embed Link' API (https://developer.box.com/reference#get-embed-link) with shared links? As far as I see the API only use the internal Box file id and there is no way to access previews of such files for external users or users who don't have access to the file inside the Box.

Box folders:get ALL folders/items, not just the limit of 100

When using the Box CLI is there a way to change the limit of results returned?By default it is set at 100.I see offset, limit and order under item_collection, but in the help for folders:get I see no way to pass my preference to box.When googling and searching Box community I see the examples of when using the api you can pass these variables along in the api url - but how do you do it with the CLI?Thanks for any help.

Notify/email collaborators from a specific folder through Api calls

Hi all,  Is there any way to notify or email all collaborators from a specific file through Api calls? I want to send them a message announcing that the folder will be deleted in x days and they'll have to move the data if they still need it.  Many thanks in advance ?

Search by metadata disabled by default?

I'm trying to run a query by searching for folders using its metadata values. But it always returns 404 Not Found. I was looking through the documentation and it says: This feature currently has limited availability. To enable this feature, contact our Metadata Query team.My question is: Using the .Net SDK, does it call the same API URLs as what I was reading in the documentation? How do I know if this feature is enabled for my organization? If it was not enabled for my organization, then I really hope Box gives a better error message. A "Not found" error message could either mean that it's not enabled for the developers organization, or it is enabled but the search returned no results. This would be very difficult to debug. A 401 Unauthorized error would be more correct.
